Last night was the beginning of holiday party season here in Dallas. This is usually during the first 2-1/2 weeks in December, when seemingly EVERY company in existence holds their annual Christmas parties. Some are small, maybe at a restaurant or inside the office. Others…like THIS one…are HUGE!Held at the Hilton Anatole near downtown Dallas, this one was for a group of cosmetics company employees…Mary Kay, and the like. In addition to caricatures, all sorts of entertainment was available, including a photo booth, and a full casino, among other things.
Fellow artists Martha and Angela were also present, offering their own unique services.Sometimes it takes a little while for the attendees to realize what we’re doing, so we were sitting by idly for a bit. I did a silly little “warm-up” drawing to try to entice someone to sit for me.It actually attracted the attention of the nearby casino workers. Then, after the first 30 minutes or so, I got my first customers. And so it began! EVERYONE had a line going non-stop for the next 2-1/2 hours. I ALMOST took a photo of one or two of my drawings…but, rather than stop what I was doing, I felt I’d rather just keep the line moving along smoothly. Suffice it to say, I was happy with the work I did last night, and…judging by the amount of tip money I received….most of the folks I drew seemed to be happy as well.
